This 2001 Moller M400 Skycar is a much-hyped VTOL flying car prototype, apparently the only one built. Powered by eight small rotary engines totaling 720 HP, the vehicle has flown but never received FAA approval despite a claimed $150 million plus spent in development over more than 30 years. The ad isn’t 100% clear, but the vehicle sounds to have been converted to a “hybrid” and/or partially disassembled, and interestingly Moller offers to assist in developing the car/plane towards airworthiness and full legality, all on the seller’s dime. We’ve always found it an interesting concept, and though it might be a long-shot, we’d love to see a type-approved final product someday.
